Justice - remix - mp3 review

I saw this crappy band the other day. I don’t even remember what they were called, but they had this one lyric that really stuck with me. The song was about two people growing apart (isn’t that what every song is about), but the lyric was “if its so hard to change why are you changing”. Its amazing how many relationships in my life right now that line applies to. Most of the people on this list I’ve known for many years, some all my life, and my relationship with all of you has changed so much. I grew up with some of you, played in bands, shared dreams, some of you I fell in love with, some fell in love with me, and even thought I hated some of you sometimes. I can honestly say that each and every one you (even the people I haven’t met) have affected my life in some way and our relationship has changed. Sometimes it’s a welcome change, sometimes not, but in the end we are all still here and I can honestly say that you are all my friends. The first track is dedicated to all of you.

end of the sentimental bullshit.

I’m sending out some old stuff today. A lot of you are probably more familiar with these tracks than you really want to be. That’s because they’ve become staples in the hipster dance scene. Justice is two Parisian DJs. They mostly do really glichy stuff, but the first track is a remix they did a simian song. The original track really isn’t that good, but these kids turned it into one of my favorite tracks. Yeah, it’s a dance track, but its still fucking cool. The other track is from their EP and while I love the sounds, it really is best appreciated on a dance floor.

  1. justice vs. simian - never be alone

i’ve heard this tune a bunch before but never realized it. it’s got some really cool hooky stuff. it kinda has a daft punk vibe. makes me want to make funkier tunage. i usually can’t stand most “dance” music. this is a rare example of listenable dance music. it might be better than the venga bus song (cue creepy dancing old guy).

waters of nazareth - my first thought was “wow that bit crushed sound is tight!”. then as it went on i was thinking: how come the few idm, techno, dance, whatever acts i actually like all use that insane compression on all thier mixes. and why can’t i get my shit to pop and lock like they do?

maybe i should get an old dbx compressor and just slam the stereo buss through it. i heard that’s what daft punk does.

then i thought that bit crushed bass sound is so insane. i had to lower the volume and it still felt like it was punching me in my aural grundle. my ears are actually ringing now. a full 5 minutes after the song stopped.

verdict: justice does justice to remixes. i’m downloading a justice remix compilation from oink right now.

This is the sort of thing I just really don’t take seriously, what I mean by that is this is music for dance sake. which is completely cool with me. but the water here is pretty shallow. so there’s not much to review. I’ll say I like it, even though I’m John Lithgow to their Kevin Bacon in Footloose. Dancing = Evil.
