This should be fun. I feel like there’s a good mix of peeps on this list with a love/hate relationship with this band. Either way I’m interested to hear what you guys/girls think about it. I checked out the rest of the record and so far this was my favorite. Its pretty much what you’d expect from them, in that “plunky” sorta way. There was another version of this track on the disc we got that was labeled (full band), it was the exact same song except a bit faster and Im not sure which one will actually end up on the album but I liked this one better. So love it, hate it, or just don’t give a f*!%k? What do you think?
So, I’m going to a RATATAT release party tonight which makes kinda want to send a RATATAT track tomorrow, but I was planning on sending this new band called Van She. If you have a preference let me know. New band or RATATAT?

Sorry this is coming so late, we had some email problems here at Insound. Ok, Panda & Angel is a recent addition to the Jade Tree family. I really like this band. I used to be big fan of Jade Tree but lately have been a little disappointed with their releases, but this gives me a little bit of hope. This whole record, while only being 6 tracks, is amazing. These guys/girls kinda remind me of Forget Cassettes if anyone likes them (I do, I do, I do). The singer was also in that band Touchdown Eagle if anybody was into them. Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Wanted to send 2 tracks from the upcoming TV on the Radio record. Im sure some of you prolly already heard some of this so I included one of the bonus tracks they sent insound. The bonus track (Things You Can Do) is also a track that sounds to me like nothing else they’ve done before. Actually, fuck it, I’m sending 3 tracks this time. Cry about it (sarah that was for you). I think these are my favorite tracks from the record. here’s the first one….BEEOTCHES: I really like this track (Tonight), even though I think it gets a bit long. These guys have always been pretty good at writing interesting songs that sorta don’t really go anywhere (um was there any changes at all in straing at the sun, but its still a fucking awesome song). I don’t mean that as a critism or anything, but as much as I like this song, it gets to be a bit much at like the 4 minute mark.

This guy seems to be all the rage right now and I think I like it, but something on this track reminds of a song that could have been on the brady bunch or some other cheesy 70s sitcom. Here’s the blurb about him on his label site:
The ex hair-model and ice cream van driver has more recently been performing live on stage as Ladytron’s bass player, as well as his duties as a member of NINJA TUNE’S, critically acclaimed Super Numeri, whose ‘Great Avaries’ album was released last year. Sounding like Smokey Robinson produced by Phil Spector, and taking his inspiration from artists such as Syd Barrett, Marvin Gaye and Bob Dylan, the album was recorded in 2003 in a Victorian mansionette. Pop Levi plays and sings every note you hear on his records

So, turns out sudifed, alcohol, and marijuana don’t mix very well. This is my memory of last night. went to meet Andy for a few beers before creature, had a few vodka drinks at creature. Met a brazillian artist (dude) that Im pretty sure was hitting on me. we smoke a joint in that little side room at saphire. The next thing I know one of my friends is putting me into a cab and the cab driver is asking me where I live while Im hanging out the back window throwing up on the street.
moral of the story - dont hang out with brazillian dudes.
Im sure some of you guys prolly already have heard this track, but I really like it. so there.

Ok, I’m actually home sick today so I don’t have access to my full mp3 library. This is kinda lame I know, but I decided to send a ‘Long Winters’ track becuase I was hangin ith some kids from Barsuk and ADA with Andy last night and they forced us to watch an acoustic set the band was doing at Other Music. I’m not a huge fan at all, but I have to say the show was pretty good. It was just the singer, but the guitarist from Nada Surf came up and did a few songs with him as well. These guys are getting mad push from Barsuk and ADA for some reason, I personally don’t think they deserve it. What do you guys think?BTW, sorry I sent another track I’m not too crazy about. I promise when I get back to work I’ll start sending the good stuff. But, if anyone has anything they want to send thats cool too.

Ok, quick rant. 9 times out of 10 music blogs are bullshit. Trust me, there’s more advertising dollars in most popular blogs than you would think. I don’t know about you guys, but I think of a blog and I think of some kid writing about what he/she actually likes, right. Unfortunately this is hardly the case. I mean, Stereogum has more retail marketing than Insound does, and this guy was having meetings with venture capitalists for gods sake. Anyway, all I’m trying to say is when it comes to blogs don’t believe the hype.Toyko Police Club however, while still blog darlings, do live up to the hype IMHO. I finally got to see them live last night and was blown away. If you guys like them they are playing Insound’s CMJ party this year and you should all go. Those of you who have been here for CMJ with me and Andy know that you will absolutely need a whole year to recover from it. Yes, we like to drink, yes all day, yes all night, yes all week. Alright, so tell me, am I succumbing to disguised corporate marketing or are these guys really that good. You tell me.

Ok, since I sent what I would consider a crappy MP3 earlier I gotta make up for it with one that I think you guys would all like. These guys kinda remind me a little bit of Four Tet, a hint of Aphex, and maybe a smidgen of Album Leaf maybe. It has one of those long build things that I’ve always been a sucker for. I don’t know, see what you think.
<<The Boats-We Made It For You (Moteer__005cd)-13 - Jonathan And Rob.m4a>>
BTW, if you liked this, the record is called “We Made It For You” and its awesome.

Ok, here’s the deal. When I saw these guys last year at the knitting factory in the old office room they fucking rocked so hard. The place was packed and everyone flipped out. Their first record was really raw. Kind of reminded of the first Q and Not U record. But I gotta say, after listening to the upcoming release I’m not sure what I ever saw I this band. I mean the old record still rocks in my opinion but this new one is way to produced, sounds dated, and just plain sucks. Am I over reacting? What do you guys think?
<<03 We Win (Haha).mp3>>
I think some of you guys might still like this track, and even if you don’t I’d still highly recommend their first record.
