Jesu - Conqueror - mp3 review
Back at work after a busy holiday vacation. I know I originally said I would send those CDs as an ‘early’ christmas/hanukkah/kwanzaa/whatever present, but you guys know how I roll, early means 2 weeks after christmas so they are going out in the mail tomorrow. So I had to go to court before leaving for Nashville. Nothing makes you feel more like a loser than a day at court for urinating in public. I think they make the building look as dilapidated as possible just to make you feel even more like a loser. Everything just looks drab and depressing. Paint caked grey and white walls, yellow florescent lights that make everyone look dead, grey marble floors from the 60s, tiny cramped elevators. It felt like being in a giant principals office. No one tells you where to go or what to do and when you finally figure it out, after asking countless people and explaining that you’re there because you got caught pissing on the street, they make you wait and watch all the others losers go up to the judges bench and get fined. I decided the whole expirience was worse than the $50 fine I ended up having to pay.
jesu was formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of Godflesh. Beginning initially as a one man project, the project included bassist Diarmuid Dalton and drummer Ted Parsons in late 2003. Their first release is the Heart Ache EP, with Broadrick playing all of the instruments. These tracks are from their upcoming release ‘Conqueror’ due out in Feb. 07 on Hydra Head records.
