Jesu - mp3 review
My morning commute now includes a brisk walk through the heart of Borough Park. A nice condensed chasidic neighborhood where most of the signs read from right to left and english is rarely heard on the street. Lately I’ve been struggling with an odd realization that this addition to my daily routine has revealed. I am oddly attracted chassidic women. There’s something about the long dark pleated skirts, the button up collared shirts, the dark homely hair and light eyes, the natural unmade faces. The plainness is amazingly sexy to me for some reason. Sort of a cross between that elementary school teacher crush and that catholic school girl lasciviousness. Dear God what am I saying? At least one person on this list has to relate, no? Come on, I know some of you girls dig on those curls.
I’m assuming most of you guys got the new radiohead already and there’s no need to send any of that out, right? Lemme know if you guys wanna check it out, or wanna discuss. I know I just sent some Jesu out, but I like these tracks and thought you guys would too. These are from the latest EP that came out yesterday.

Once I saw a Hasidic man on the train plucking out his beard hairs and sucking on them for a few minutes, then spitting them out. A few weeks later another Hasidic man came into my bar while I was working and chatted me up for two hours about his bowel problems. I don’t know, I’m just not feeling the curly tendrils.

Wow Mark, this email might have to go under your list of ‘most responded to’…. and as usual, having nothing to do with the music.
but at least you know you have good friends out there that are concerned about you and willing to intervene when necessary.

Yo Mark, I totally feel you on the hasidic women! I used to get the same thing when I drove through Crown Heights to get to work. They got me all hot and bothered in the morning.

Oh Mark. You must not continue with the loshon horo, motzi shem ra,
mocking tzadikim, etc.You are probably a shoite and not chayav any
sort of oinesh.
I must admit i have no idea what any of those words mean. I founded
them on http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/ which very critical of
crimes in the hasidic community.
I suggest those with any interest in subcultures take a gander. The
comments are the most interesting part of the site. those faithful to
the culture insult and berate the author who has presumably left. the
insults aren’t what you would find here (”yr gay”). they are attacks
on the authors faith, ability to socialize and mostly yiddish words i
don’t know.
There’s also a discussion on Matisyahu leaving Chabad.
http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/failed_messiahcom/2007/10/matisyahu-on-le.html
“Because Matisyahu was a poseur all along. It’s not that he doesn’t
feel some connection to Judaism or hasidut – it’s that he set out to
use that connection for his own personal gain, to help him stand out
from the crowd and get noticed. His kapote and fedora-wearing stage
costume was just that – a costume. And when one costume gets old,
he’ll find another.”
