The other day in band practice we had a lil' jam. Lots of single note noodlings with out true major chord resolutions. It started to gain a bit of an afro beat vibe. Now i'm a big fan of afrobeat and have been since 1978. i was thinking, "wow this isn't bad". it wasn't the usual late-90's diminished third/mush/chunka chunka rerun we often find ourselves in. as soon as I started getting back of the neck/goose bumps sprouts that playing good music gives you, keith, our drummer says, "god, i fucking hate that kind of music". he got a big laugh from everyone in the room.

abe vigoda reminds me of that jam. disjointed, possibly half put together but also possibly worth while to hunker down and figure it out.

being in bands is always one of two things. people you dont like but are on the same page musically. or people you like who have completely different tastes. tired of it all? start a cover band!

" but with a recent 8.3 rating on pitchfork they may be poised to become
one of the most successful."

Most likely why I hate it. Pitchfork likes to say "Hey, this is great!" to
shitty bands to make everyone else feel like they're idiots. Label crap
Good and work off the cool factor while maintaining that superiority. Not
buying it..
